If you would like to extend your visit to The Netherlands, make sure to stay until April the 30th, also known as QUEEN’S DAY! The day our country celebrates her national unity and turns entirely orange. It’s celebrated throughout the entire country by an endless number of events; street and canal parties, concerts, the flee market etc. In most Dutch cities the party already starts on the night of the 29th and lasts until the 30th around 00.00. Want to join the orange people? Make sure to book your hostel on time! There are a couple of different ways you can celebrate Queen’s day:
For example our capital city, Amsterdam, is no longer accessible for cars/busses/trams. On Queen’s day it is transformed into one big walking city. Everywhere you walk, there will be music; played by bands & enjoyed by a crazy crowd.
In Utrecht you can experience a more traditional Queen’s day. Throughout the city you can see streets transformed into flee markets and children of all ages show their artistic skills with open-air musical and theatrical performances.
During Queen’s day Eindhoven is transformed into a festival city of housemusic, every possible square has a dj playing his tunes. This is the start of the outdoor festival season of the Netherlands.
